Day 22: Favourite book you read in school

Patrick Süßkind – Perfume

We have read a few books in school , mainly german classics tho. But this was by far my favourite. It was thrilling and fascinating, and not as boring as most of the other.

For everyone who hasn’t read the book, Perfume is about Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born in the slums of eighteenth-centry France. He has a very special gift – an absolute sense of smell. As a boy, he lives to decipher the odors of Paris, and apprentices himself to a prominent perfumer who teaches him the ancient art of mixing precious oils and herbs. But he is never truly satisfied, and becomes obsessed with capuring the smells of objects. Until one day he catches the scent of something that will drive him further on his quest to create the ultimate perfume – the scent of a beautiful young virgin.
